W01 Reflection

 Entrepreneurial Journal

I am currently enrolled in a college course that focuses on entrepreneurship. I was a bit shocked when I read that the focus of the class was NOT to build a business plan, but rather a life plan that could push you to one day develop a business plan. The idea of starting off with myself and my life goals seems more attainable at the moment because the first steps start with me.

In one of this week's readings, I came across this quote by Marcus Aurelius, "It’s not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live." This tied into a concept earlier on in the reading that mentioned how life develops more meaning when you live it with intent. I pondered on these two ideas and realized that I often get caught up in focusing on the finish line, I forget to enjoy the run. Questions then flooded my mind, "How do I live a life with intent? What does it look like to actually be living? What attributes to a life lived with intent?" I then continued reading the documents provided and noticed a whole section dedicated to developing habits that would be etched into my character and surrounding myself with people who lift me up (vice versa). By choosing good habits to form, they will help me make choices what align with who I want to become. I have seen the benefit of surrounding myslef with people who have similiar habits and goals as I do. On my mission I was in a trio my last two transfers and had never felt such union in a companionship because we all were striving to do our best in creatting effective ways to teach. Those last two transfers were filled with spiritual experiences I will never forget.

Lastly, recording one's failures and successes allows them to learn and reflect on what works and what doesn't. I am excited to see my progression throughout this course and the habits I decide to develop in order to get me closer to my goals.
